Meet Lizzy!

Lizzy fell in love with dog sledding after getting a sled dog ride after the UP200.

When she was 11, Ryan and Jana moved to the UP and she learned that they had sled dogs. She made sure to introduce herself at an event and quickly started to come out to visit the dogs. Her first year competing with dogs, she was a UP200 Dryland Dash scholarship recipient who wrote an essay to earn her place in the race.

Lizzy, under Jana’s mentorship, has slowly grown her team from older dogs from two to 6. She has raced at the UP200 Dryland Dash, Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race, and Copperdog for 4 years now!

Lizzy is now a freshman in high school, and as she continues to expand her experience, she is also becoming eligible for longer and more challenging races. With those opportunities come larger entry fees and additional racing expenses.
